Sex Pistols Single Named Most Collectable Record

Next time you are rifling through the dusty racks of second-hand record shops, should you be thinking about what makes a worthwhile investment as well as what you enjoy hearing?
Record Collector magazine has compiled its Top 50 most collectable records, aimed at investors seeking a return on the artefacts they buy. Top of the list is the rare as hens’ teeth A&M release of ‘God Save The Queen’ — the label quickly dropped the Sex Pistols and destroyed most copies, so any existing versions are worth £8,000 today. Still a sound investment, says the crate digger’s bible.
In the list, quoted by the Daily Telegraph, Record Collector comments, “The Sex Pistols have connected with and attract every new generation that has sprung up since 1977 and the reunion tours — and those Rotten butter adverts — have kept them in the public eye.”
